The Dallas County Democratic Party Urges Voters to Reject Propositions S, T, and U
DALLAS, TX – The Dallas County Democratic Party stands united with former mayors Ron Kirk, Mike Rawlings, Laura Miller, and Tom Leppert in urging voters to reject Propositions S, T, and U. These amendments would signal a dangerous rollback of progress by disinvesting in community resources. They are part of a larger MAGA agenda to weaken city government, led by January 6th rioter Monty Bennett.
Propositions S, T, and U will force cuts to vital city services – like parks, libraries, and road repairs – and rush a police expansion that Dallas’s own Police Chief has called irresponsible. By tying the City Manager's role to a small survey of only 1,400 people and opening up the city to a bevy of lawsuits, these amendments seek to destabilize Dallas and set a precedent for other cities across America.
These amendments would destabilize the city government, cut vital resources that Dallasites rely on, and drag the city council into court cases in a way that would gravely impair City Council’s ability to govern, leading to chaos and financial burdens on taxpayers.
Dallas County Democratic Party Chair Kardal Coleman issued the following statement:
“This is a full-on MAGA takeover attempt. Propositions S, T, and U are being pushed by Monty Bennett – a January 6th rioter and far-right extremist – who wants to undermine Dallas’s progress and force his radical agenda on our city. We need every Dallasite to get to the bottom of the ballot, and vote against Propositions S, T, and U.”
“This is bigger than just Dallas. Right-wing extremists want to take over our cities, destabilize our communities, and erase the progress we've made. But we are not going back – not now, not ever. We call on all Dallas residents to join us in rejecting Propopstions S, T, and U.”
