Texas Democratic National Delegation Vote Overwhelmingly to Endorse Kamala Harris as Nominee for President

Dallas, Texas -

On Sunday, President Joe Biden announced that he will end his reelection campaign, effectively releasing all of his pledged delegates ahead of the Democratic National Convention. The Texas Democratic National Delegation met Monday evening to discuss the process of selecting a new nominee and voted overwhelmingly to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party nominee.

Dallas County Democratic Party Chair Kardal Coleman issued the following statement:

“As a Dallas County delegate, I was proud to cast my vote to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, who has proven that she will be ready on day one to shape a new path for our country. As a Texas Democrat and leader of the Dallas County Democratic Party, I was honored to stand alongside Democrats across this state in a show of unity and action. As the first woman, Black, and South Asian Vice President, Harris’s vice presidency has been truly groundbreaking, and today Texas Democrats signaled that we will do all that we can to shatter that final glass ceiling in November. It is clear to the entire delegation that there is no one better suited to serve the American people and to lead this country; throughout her career, Vice President Harris has been a fierce advocate for Americans’ rights and freedoms, and as president, she will continue to champion the kitchen table issues our voters care about.”
