If you’re interested in local politics, interning with your Dallas County Democratic Party (DCDP) is the perfect way to get involved! During this spring program, you will learn all about grassroots campaigning, event planning, community outreach, and networking. Here’s just a few of the things you can expect to learn/participate in this summer:
We believe that providing quality-learning experiences for young activists is key to turning Texas blue. Our goal is to develop talented campaigners. Former DCDP interns have gone on to work on various campaigns, including issues-based, local, statewide, and even national. Some have even gone on to work as staff at the White House and for local members of Congress! But no matter what career you want to pursue, the skills you learn here at DCDP will transfer with you and make you a better advocate for progressive issues.
What We’re Looking For
Our Fellows are committed to applying their enthusiasm and passion for progressive causes and candidates to community organizing in Dallas County. They are interested in empowering supporters to become volunteers, and non-voters to become civic participants.
Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a diverse team. They will understand that a sense of humor is a must, as is a willingness to learn new skills as organizers and leaders. We are seeking individuals who enjoy volunteer-driven community organizing and who take initiative. All our Fellows come from different backgrounds and walks of life, but they are all happily committed to engaging people in the Democratic process.
