DALLAS – After more than three weeks of being MIA, late this afternoon District Attorney Susan Hawk announced that she is battling depression and will take another four weeks off from work, and these additional weeks will be unpaid.
Just months after being sworn in, Dallas County District Attorney Susan Hawk was inexplicably away from her job. Before her unexplained absence, she admitted to previous prescription drug abuse, and fired or forced the resignations of several key employees who have publicly called her behavior “paranoid”.
Dallas County Democratic Party Chair Carol Donovan issued the following statement:
“Mental illness is a serious issue. We commend Susan for her willingness to state the truth, but she hid the truth for weeks, after months of erratic behavior.
"The District Attorney is the County’s top law enforcement official and she oversees 500 employees.
“If Susan cannot do her job, for herself and for her office, she should resign.”
