I was first introduced to politics when my school streamed President Obama’s historic inauguration over our school TV’s -- however at that time I was on the other side of the political aisle (at least as much as my 5th grade self could tell). Then high school came around and by my sophomore year, I knew I was a Democrat. Now, 3 years later, I’m an intern with the Dallas County Democratic Party, a national delegate to Philadelphia later this month, and a counselor at Texas Boys State!
In August, I will enter my first year of college at UT (Hook ‘em)! While there, I plan to continue my involvement with the Democrats and other progressive causes while studying Government in the political heart of Texas.
As far as my future after college, I’m leaving my options open. It’s often advisable to lead life around, but sometimes the best opportunities present themselves when you are participating in what you’re passionate about. Whatever I do though, it will involve securing the rights of all human beings. As Harvey Milk said, “rights are won only by those who make their voices heard.”
