Judge Mark Greenberg Honored With Inter-Ministerial Alliance Civic Award
Judge Greenberg Presides over County Court at Law 5
DALLAS, Feb. 1, 2010 – Judge Mark Greenberg, Democratic incumbent Judge of County Court at Law 5, one of Dallas County’s civil courts, will be honored with the DFW Inter Ministerial Alliance Civic Award on Friday at the organization’s Annual Banquet. Judge Greenberg has a long track record of community service spanning his entire legal career. He has been particularly dedicated to mentoring young attorneys and to supporting volunteer attorney programs.
“I am a passionate student of the law, and it makes me feel more connected to my profession and to others to nurture younger attorneys and also to think outside the box in order to assist those who need legal help the most,” said Judge Greenberg.
Judge Greenberg is a Board Member of the Dallas Bar Association Community Service Fund, which recruits, trains and supports volunteer attorneys who provide assistance to citizens who could not otherwise afford legal services. Volunteer attorneys from the program handled over 1000 cases in 2009. Judge Greenberg has long been dedicated to helping younger attorneys learn the legal craft, frequently encouraging them to volunteer with Legal Aid of North West Texas, where they are able to work with more experienced attorney mentors on cases.
In 2009, Judge Greenberg was also a volunteer with Good Legal Clinics, a series of over 20 free legal clinics and seminars that were held throughout the county to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the C.A.W. Clark Legal Clinic Series at Good St. Baptist Church. Judge Greenberg, as a sitting jurist, cannot practice law or provide legal advice, but he was a popular panelist when seminar attendees had general questions about the civil justice system, demonstrating his remarkable knowledge of Texas law.
Judge Greenberg also served in 2009 on a Dallas Commissioners Court Task Force on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), seeking to find ways lower income persons can use ADR to resolve civil matters without incurring the expense of full litigation.
