2024 DCDP Fellowship

About the Fellowship:

The Dallas County Democratic Party is seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and talented Fellows for a large-scale, voter contact program to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in 2024. This is an entry-level position. The 2024 Fellows will be responsible for managing communications, implementing and executing the voter outreach program, and ensuring our fundraising and voter protection objectives across the County. The ideal applicant works well in a fast-paced environment and has a commitment to electing progressive candidates. 

The 2024 Fellows will work in closely with their respective Department Leads. This is a part-time salary exempt position based in Dallas County. Travel within Dallas County is expected, and reliable transportation is required.

Pay rate: $18/per hour

 

The ideal candidate: 

  • Is an incoming senior or recent high school graduate, a student at a college or university (including 2-year schools, 4-year schools, technical colleges, etc), graduate student, or recent graduate
  • Is able to work under tight deadlines and rapid response situations
  • Is extremely detailed-oriented, self-starter, and well-organized
  • Has strong communication skills and enjoys talking to people with many different perspectives and work experiences
  • Has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (required)

 

Fellowships and Responsibilities

Voter Protection Fellowship

  • Working with the communications department to develop a social media campaign for voter education
  • Assisting with election judge recruitment
  • Working with the Dallas County Elections Department and the Dallas County Democratic Party Elections Department
  • Plan for and be part of the Election Day Boiler Room 

Communications Fellowship

  • Social media management 
  • Creating graphics for our social accounts and emails
  • Assisting with website updates
  • Assisting with any marketing deliverables
  • Creating print materials in the form of event signage, backdrops, and flyers
  • Writing press releases and communicating with media

Organizing Fellowship

  • Testing and planning for the use of new mobilization and relational organizing tools
  • Preparing for and launching block walks, phone banks, postcard writing events, and other field events
  • Coordinating field events with precinct chairs, volunteers, and elected officials

Finance & Development Fellowship

  • Assisting with preparing the Texas Ethics Commission report
  • Staffing and preparing the Chair and Vice Chair for call time
  • Assisting with database management
  • Developing prospect lists
  • Working with the Fundraising Committee to plan high-dollar fundraising events, including the annual JJ Dinner
